In January 2018, Kendrick Lamar and Nike were finally ready to officially begin their collaboration with the first appearance of the Cortez Kenny 1 sneaker at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Dressed in a White, Black and Red color scheme, Lamar unveiled Nike Cortez model under the name of his latest album "DAMN" ("Damned"). "DAMN" branding on the tongues of the sneaker combines with the Swoosh logo. In order to make a bright accent on this model, Nike decided to print "DAMN" on the sides of the sneakers instead of the Swoosh logo.
